Getting references after a company closes - 2 months and counting

My manager was laid off too and I am unsure who to use as a reference. There are 17 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. I have one former client who liked my work. Who did you use?

Use a professional network to find a former manager. Many will still write a note.
