Explaining a gap after caregiving or layoff - what worked for you?

My résumé shows a gap from a layoff and some health issues. This is my first time dealing with any of this. I am not sure how much to explain.

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.

A short, honest line such as 'family caregiving' is enough for most employers. They mostly want to know you are ready now.
