Explaining a gap after caregiving or layoff (update)

I have been out of work for 6 months and worry about the gap. I do not usually post, so bear with me. I am nervous about being filtered out. How did you handle it on your résumé?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 6 months ago, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
