Explaining a gap after caregiving or layoff, recruiter here

I took time out to care for a family member after working as a recruiter. This is my first time dealing with any of this. I am nervous about being filtered out. What do you say in interviews?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.

A short, honest line such as 'family caregiving' is enough for most employers. They mostly want to know you are ready now.
