Explaining a gap after caregiving or layoff (Hartford)

I took time out to care for a family member after working as an electrician's helper. This is my first time dealing with any of this. I have done some volunteering and a course during that time. How did you handle it on your résumé?

A short, honest line such as 'family caregiving' is enough for most employers. They mostly want to know you are ready now.
