Explaining a gap after caregiving or layoff after 8 years as a machine operator

I took time out to care for a family member after working as a machine operator. This is my first time dealing with any of this. I am not sure how much to explain.

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 2 months ago, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
