Explaining a gap after caregiving or layoff after 4 years as a web developer

I have been out of work for 7 months and worry about the gap. I worked as a web developer before this. I am not sure how much to explain. How did you handle it on your résumé?

I was hired after a 7-month gap. The manager said the skills test mattered more than the dates.
