Explaining a gap after caregiving or layoff after 4 years as a payroll clerk

I have been out of work for 10 months and worry about the gap. This is my first time dealing with any of this. I am not sure how much to explain. Did anyone get past it?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
