Explaining a gap after caregiving or layoff after 18 years as an HR coordinator

I took time out to care for a family member after working as an HR coordinator. I have been trying to stay organised about it. I have done some volunteering and a course during that time. Did anyone get past it?

A short, honest line such as 'family caregiving' is enough for most employers. They mostly want to know you are ready now.

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
