Explaining a gap after caregiving or layoff after 13 years as a teaching assistant

I took time out to care for a family member after working as a teaching assistant. I am not sure how much to explain. How did you handle it on your résumé?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 4 months ago, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.
