Explaining a gap after caregiving or layoff - 7 months and counting

I took time out to care for a family member after working as a procurement assistant. It has been weighing on me all week. I have done some volunteering and a course during that time. Did anyone get past it?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 7 months ago, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
