Explaining a gap after caregiving or layoff - 6 months and counting

My résumé shows a gap from a layoff and some health issues. There are 5 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. I have done some volunteering and a course during that time.

A short, honest line such as 'family caregiving' is enough for most employers. They mostly want to know you are ready now.

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
