Explaining a gap after caregiving or layoff - 6 months and counting

I took time out to care for a family member after working as an HR coordinator. I have done some volunteering and a course during that time. Did anyone get past it?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.

I was hired after a 6-month gap. The manager said the skills test mattered more than the dates.
