Explaining a gap after caregiving or layoff - 4 months and counting

I took time out to care for a family member after working as an administrative assistant. I am in St. Louis, in case local advice matters. I am nervous about being filtered out. Did anyone get past it?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.
