Explaining a gap after caregiving or layoff - 23 weeks in

I took time out to care for a family member after working as a customer-service rep. I have read a lot of threads here and could not find my exact situation. I am nervous about being filtered out. What do you say in interviews?

A short, honest line such as 'family caregiving' is enough for most employers. They mostly want to know you are ready now.
