Explaining a gap after caregiving or layoff - 14 weeks in

I took time out to care for a family member after working as a marketing coordinator. I have read a lot of threads here and could not find my exact situation. I have done some volunteering and a course during that time. What do you say in interviews?

A short, honest line such as 'family caregiving' is enough for most employers. They mostly want to know you are ready now.
