Explaining a gap after caregiving or layoff - 14 months and counting

I took time out to care for a family member after working as a security officer. It has been a long 22 weeks. I am not sure how much to explain. How did you handle it on your résumé?

I was hired after a 14-month gap. The manager said the skills test mattered more than the dates.
