Explaining a gap after caregiving or layoff - 13 months and counting

My résumé shows a gap from a layoff and some health issues. I worked as an administrative assistant before this. I am not sure how much to explain.

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 13 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.

A short, honest line such as 'family caregiving' is enough for most employers. They mostly want to know you are ready now.
