Contract work or permanent, which would you take? - what worked for you?

A permanent role may come up, but the contract starts now. It has been a long 20 weeks. I have 10 months of savings left. Did a contract become permanent?

If savings are low, I would accept and keep applying. You can leave for a permanent role if one appears.
