Contract work or permanent, which would you take? - what worked for you?

I got a contract offer for 6 months as a social media manager and I am unsure whether to accept. I am in Louisville, in case local advice matters. The contract could extend. What would you do?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
