Contract work or permanent, which would you take? - what worked for you?

I got a contract offer for 6 months as a sales associate and I am unsure whether to accept. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. I have 5 months of savings left. What would you do?

I took a contract and it converted after four months. The time also kept my skills current.
