Contract work or permanent, which would you take? - what worked for you?

A permanent role may come up, but the contract starts now. This is my first time dealing with any of this. The contract could extend. Did a contract become permanent?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 14 months ago, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
