Contract work or permanent, which would you take? - what worked for you?

I got a contract offer for 9 months as a paralegal and I am unsure whether to accept. It has been weighing on me all week. The contract could extend. Did a contract become permanent?

Buy coverage through the marketplace if the contract has none. I budgeted for it before signing.
