Contract work or permanent, which would you take? - what worked for you?

I got a contract offer for 10 months as a retail manager and I am unsure whether to accept. I am in Spokane, in case local advice matters. I would gain recent experience. Did a contract become permanent?

Buy coverage through the marketplace if the contract has none. I budgeted for it before signing.
