Contract work or permanent, which would you take? - what worked for you?

The pay is fair but there are no benefits. I have been trying to stay organised about it. The contract could extend. How did you handle benefits?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
