Contract work or permanent, which would you take? (update)

I got a contract offer for 5 months as a store manager and I am unsure whether to accept. I worked as a store manager before this. I would gain recent experience. How did you handle benefits?

Ask about extension likelihood and whether the team has hired contractors before.

I took a contract and it converted after four months. The time also kept my skills current.
