Contract work or permanent, which would you take? (update)

The pay is fair but there are no benefits. I am in Milwaukee, in case local advice matters. I would gain recent experience. Did a contract become permanent?

Buy coverage through the marketplace if the contract has none. I budgeted for it before signing.
