Contract work or permanent, which would you take? (San Diego)

A permanent role may come up, but the contract starts now. I have read a lot of threads here and could not find my exact situation. I would gain recent experience. Did a contract become permanent?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.

I took a contract and it converted after four months. The time also kept my skills current.
