Contract work or permanent, which would you take?, medical assistant here

I got a contract offer for 12 months as a medical assistant and I am unsure whether to accept. I worked as a medical assistant before this. The contract could extend. What would you do?

Ask about extension likelihood and whether the team has hired contractors before.

I took a contract and it converted after four months. The time also kept my skills current.
