Contract work or permanent, which would you take? - first time posting

I got a contract offer for 6 months as an electrician's helper and I am unsure whether to accept. There are 6 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. I have 8 months of savings left. Did a contract become permanent?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 8 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.
