Contract work or permanent, which would you take?, electrician's helper here

I got a contract offer for 11 months as an electrician's helper and I am unsure whether to accept. I am in Buffalo, in case local advice matters. I have 8 months of savings left. How did you handle benefits?

Ask about extension likelihood and whether the team has hired contractors before.
