Contract work or permanent, which would you take? - any advice?

I got a contract offer for 17 months as a bookkeeper and I am unsure whether to accept. It has been a long 18 weeks. I have 11 months of savings left. Did a contract become permanent?

Buy coverage through the marketplace if the contract has none. I budgeted for it before signing.

I took a contract and it converted after four months. The time also kept my skills current.
