Contract work or permanent, which would you take? - any advice?

I got a contract offer for 8 months as a paralegal and I am unsure whether to accept. This is my first time dealing with any of this. I have 14 months of savings left. Did a contract become permanent?

Buy coverage through the marketplace if the contract has none. I budgeted for it before signing.
