Contract work or permanent, which would you take? after 9 years as a dental hygienist

A permanent role may come up, but the contract starts now. It has been weighing on me all week. I have 5 months of savings left. Did a contract become permanent?

If savings are low, I would accept and keep applying. You can leave for a permanent role if one appears.
