Contract work or permanent, which would you take? after 7 years as a copywriter

The pay is fair but there are no benefits. This is my first time dealing with any of this. I have 8 months of savings left. What would you do?

I took a contract and it converted after four months. The time also kept my skills current.

If savings are low, I would accept and keep applying. You can leave for a permanent role if one appears.
