Contract work or permanent, which would you take? after 6 years as a payroll clerk

I got a contract offer for 6 months as a payroll clerk and I am unsure whether to accept. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. I have 7 months of savings left. Did a contract become permanent?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.
