Contract work or permanent, which would you take? after 6 years as a mechanic

The pay is fair but there are no benefits. I am in Tucson, in case local advice matters. The contract could extend. How did you handle benefits?

If savings are low, I would accept and keep applying. You can leave for a permanent role if one appears.
