Contract work or permanent, which would you take? after 5 years as an operations analyst

A permanent role may come up, but the contract starts now. I have been trying to stay organised about it. The contract could extend. What would you do?

If savings are low, I would accept and keep applying. You can leave for a permanent role if one appears.
