Contract work or permanent, which would you take? after 3 years as an electrician's helper

I got a contract offer for 3 months as an electrician's helper and I am unsure whether to accept. This is my first time dealing with any of this. The contract could extend. What would you do?

I took a contract and it converted after four months. The time also kept my skills current.
