Contract work or permanent, which would you take? after 18 years as a sales associate

A permanent role may come up, but the contract starts now. I have read a lot of threads here and could not find my exact situation. I would gain recent experience. What would you do?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.

Buy coverage through the marketplace if the contract has none. I budgeted for it before signing.
