Contract work or permanent, which would you take? after 16 years as an operations analyst

I got a contract offer for 16 months as an operations analyst and I am unsure whether to accept. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. I would gain recent experience. Did a contract become permanent?

Buy coverage through the marketplace if the contract has none. I budgeted for it before signing.
