Contract work or permanent, which would you take? after 15 years as a teaching assistant

I got a contract offer for 15 months as a teaching assistant and I am unsure whether to accept. The contract could extend. What would you do?

If savings are low, I would accept and keep applying. You can leave for a permanent role if one appears.

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
