Contract work or permanent, which would you take? after 15 years as a mechanic

I got a contract offer for 15 months as a mechanic and I am unsure whether to accept. It has been a long 9 weeks. I have 9 months of savings left. What would you do?

If savings are low, I would accept and keep applying. You can leave for a permanent role if one appears.
