Contract work or permanent, which would you take? after 14 years as an electrician's helper

The pay is fair but there are no benefits. I worked as an electrician's helper before this. I have 4 months of savings left. Did a contract become permanent?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
