Contract work or permanent, which would you take? after 13 years as an insurance claims processor

The pay is fair but there are no benefits. There are 13 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. I would gain recent experience. Did a contract become permanent?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
