Contract work or permanent, which would you take? after 12 years as a payroll clerk

A permanent role may come up, but the contract starts now. It has been weighing on me all week. The contract could extend. Did a contract become permanent?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 7 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
