Contract work or permanent, which would you take? after 10 years as an electrician's helper

A permanent role may come up, but the contract starts now. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. The contract could extend. Did a contract become permanent?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 10 months ago, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
