Contract work or permanent, which would you take?

I got a contract offer for 5 months as a machine operator and I am unsure whether to accept. There are 5 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. I would gain recent experience. Did a contract become permanent?

Ask about extension likelihood and whether the team has hired contractors before.
