Contract work or permanent, which would you take? - 9 months and counting

A permanent role may come up, but the contract starts now. This is my first time dealing with any of this. The contract could extend. What would you do?

I took a contract and it converted after four months. The time also kept my skills current.

If savings are low, I would accept and keep applying. You can leave for a permanent role if one appears.
