Contract work or permanent, which would you take? - 5 weeks in

A permanent role may come up, but the contract starts now. Any experience at all would help. I have 11 months of savings left. Did a contract become permanent?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 11 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
